Hosting · L3 volumetric + amplification
Hosting provider protected via BGP + GRE
Hosting provider announced prefixes through Routevara and absorbed amplification campaigns without customer impact.
Problem
A regional hosting provider was repeatedly affected by amplification attacks aimed at a small subset of customers — but the collateral spread across the whole network.
Solution
Customer prefixes were announced via Routevara with selective always-on filtering, and clean traffic returned through GRE tunnels to the provider's edge.
Result
Network stability returned. The provider could keep selling to high-risk customers instead of avoiding them.
